Silicone Oil
Create stunning, dynamic cell structures and fluid visual effects in your resin artwork with our premium Silicone Oil. Specially formulated for high fluidity and low surface tension, a few drops of this liquid silicone create vibrant cells, lacing, and ocean-wave patterns when blended into colored resin or acrylic pours.
Key Features
-
Dramatic Cell Creation: Produces crisp, well-defined visual cells and lacing in fluid art.
-
Pure & Clear Formula: Highly concentrated, 100% pure silicone oil that won't discolor your pigments or cloud clear resin.
-
Easy Dispersion: Blends smoothly into two-part epoxy resin, UV resin, and acrylic pouring paints.
-
Heat Responsive: Cell formation can be further expanded and enhanced using a light pass of a heat gun or torch.
How to Use
-
Prepare Pigmented Resin: Mix your epoxy resin and hardener, then divide into cups and add your desired resin pigments.
-
Add Silicone Oil: Add 1 to 3 drops of silicone oil into specific colored resin cups (do not add to clear resin).
-
Stir Lightly: Stir gently 2–3 times only. Over-mixing will result in tiny, broken cells instead of large, distinct rings.
-
Pour & Pass Heat: Pour your pigmented resin onto your board or mold. Briefly pass a heat gun or butane torch over the surface to reactivate the oil and expand the cells.
Pro Tips for Best Results
-
Less is More: Start with just 1–2 drops per 50g of mixed resin; adding too much oil can create greasy surface spots.
-
Topcoat Caution: If you plan to add a second clear topcoat layer over a cured cell art piece, wipe the cured surface with isopropyl alcohol first to remove any residual silicone oil.
